Smart Movers Club
We Build and Run Bid Departments for Contractors
We built Smart Movers Club because bidding had become another full-time job for the contractor. Our team exists to run that function: we source opportunities, analyze the work, coordinate estimating, manage proposals and submissions, and stay on the pursuit until there is a result.
BidEngine is the operating system behind our team. You stay responsible for the decisions only you should make — pricing, capacity, technical judgment, and final approval.

Give small and mid-sized contractors a real bid department without hiring one.
Every opportunity tracked. Every deadline owned. Every pursuit followed through.
A staffed bid desk running on BidEngine, our own bid management platform.
How the work is divided
We run the bid function. You make the calls.
- Sourcing qualified public and private opportunities
- Scoping and analyzing the work in the documents
- Coordinating estimating and takeoff
- Building and formatting the proposal package
- Managing submission, portals, and deadlines
- Following up until there is a result
- Final pricing and margin
- Capacity and schedule decisions
- Technical and means-and-methods judgment
- Final approval before anything is submitted
Client results
What contractors say about the bid desk.
"I like that we can send all our ITBs to them and they look through it to see if it's a good fit. Brian and his team does a good job of being responsive — as a sub, I only bid on 300K–500K+ projects, so to understand a project's value within hours helps me greatly."
"Their bid debrief calls are good — I would definitely try to bring Marvin back on those calls. He was a huge help."
"The team surprises me each week with what they're finding in my market. Down here it's only government and infrastructure, but they were able to find profitable private work."
"Our main problem was hiring — we only have one estimator and he's doing it all and getting burnt out. SMC now takes work off his plate so he can focus on our major design/build projects."
"We used to miss deadlines because nobody had time to read the documents. Last month SMC got three bids out for us that we never would have submitted on our own."

Our story
We Built the Bid Department Contractors Were Missing
The construction industry has no shortage of software. There are platforms for finding projects, estimating, takeoffs, proposals, CRM, procurement, and bid tracking.
But we kept seeing the same problem. Every new tool still needed someone inside the contractor’s business to learn it, manage it, connect it to the rest of the process, and make sure the work actually got done.
Another subscription did not create more capacity. Another dashboard did not chase the subcontractor quote. Another piece of software did not decide which opportunity deserved the estimator’s time, get the proposal assembled, make the deadline, or follow up after submission.
And for a lot of contractors, bidding had quietly become a second full-time job.
That gap is why Smart Movers Club exists.
We built SMC around a simple idea: contractors should not have to assemble six different tools, hire several people, and invent an internal process just to build a consistent pursuit function. We use technology and AI heavily, but the technology supports the work. Our team owns the function. We become part of the contractor’s operating rhythm and help build the repeatable process behind finding, qualifying, pursuing, submitting, and following up on the right work.
That is also what makes us different from traditional consulting. A consultant can study the problem, build a strategy deck, make recommendations, and hand the process back to the client. We stay. We help operate it. Our success is tied to helping our clients build a healthier pursuit pipeline and support the revenue goals they are trying to reach.
The Team Behind the Bid Department
Smart Movers Club is built around people with different responsibilities inside the pursuit process.
Our Founder, Founder — SMC started after seeing the gap between the growing number of construction technology products and the amount of work still being left on contractors’ desks. As founder, he designs the systems, technology, workflows, and operating structure that allow the SMC team to function as a repeatable bid department across client accounts. The objective is not simply to automate tasks. It is to build a system in which the work is organized, visible, accountable, and consistently executed.
Marvin — Civil Engineer, Estimating & Opportunity Research — Marvin brings an engineering background to the technical side of the bidding process. He works deeply across opportunity research, solicitation discovery, estimating, project analysis, and the information required to move qualified pursuits forward. His work often extends beyond the opportunities appearing on the most common bidding platforms, helping clients uncover relevant work that may otherwise never reach their desks.
Brian — Bid Department Management, Business Development & Delivery — Brian oversees the day-to-day operation of the managed bid department. He keeps the internal team aligned, works directly with clients during bid reviews, coordinates pricing and proposal development, manages pursuit progress, and stays involved after submission through follow-up, scope conversations, and next-step strategy. His responsibility is making sure the department does not simply generate activity. It keeps moving toward the outcomes the client hired us to support.
Chris — Project Discovery, Partnerships & Market Development — Chris works on the front end of the pipeline. He researches projects, permits, owners, developers, investors, partnerships, and other early-stage opportunities that may not yet be appearing everywhere contractors normally look. His role is to help put our clients in front of relevant opportunities earlier and create another layer of business development beyond waiting for the next ITB to arrive.
Technology Supports the Department. It Is Not the Department.
We built BidEngine and use AI because the right technology allows our team to move faster, analyze more information, maintain visibility, and create consistency across the bidding process. But Smart Movers Club is not a software subscription disguised as a service. Behind every client account is a team managing the work.
- We source and qualify opportunities.
- We review requirements.
- We coordinate estimating.
- We manage subcontractor and supplier activity where needed.
- We develop proposals.
- We control the bid package and submission process.
- We track deadlines and addenda.
- We follow up after the bid goes out.
The contractor stays responsible for the decisions that should remain theirs: pricing, capacity, technical judgment, major scope decisions, and final approval. Your team owns the decisions. Your bid department owns the process.
That is Smart Movers Club.
